Android app testing list

Introduction

Currently, app testing is in an indefinite hiatus.

This is my own list of apps tested for compatibility in a degoogled environment, whether it's Vanilla or microG. Rules can be seen here, and previous version here.

For more apps, check out Plexus (requires 1st-party JS, XHR, & other enabled if using uMatrix).

Tentative list of apps and/or games I'm currently planning to test out :

Personal commentary : TENBIRDS (publisher of Animus series & Ire : Blood Memory) has a decent track record of releasing games that work without GMS despite claiming GMS dependencies in Aurora Store (not sure about the online-only Ire though).

• Has a setup wizard that allows the user to run AdAway as root / VPN. After setting up the required mode, it cannot be changed unless AdAway data is wiped.
• Requires internet to pull & parse hosts; as well as updates if not disabled
• Checks for update & applies it by default, especially on 1st run after the user decides which mode it runs on (root / VPN)
A workaround to bypass the forced update on setup wizard : Close the app after setting the mode & reopen it.

AetherSX2

• Relies on Goolag PlayStore API - if Goolag pushes any update that breaks Aurora Store, let's hope the developer has an update to circumvent it.
• In order to ensure Aurora Store fully works, you must ensure that your device can connect to play.googleapis.com & connectivitycheck.android.com. This means whitelisting it in AdAway and/or making sure those 2 pages are absent in the hosts file.

• Back in 24/12/2021, the app was tested to run without any issues. However, a security patch (I'm not sure which one TBH) made it only run when it has to ask for storage permission. Afterwards, the app no longer works. Obvious workaround for A13 is to disable storage permission for BH:Legacy after playing, only to re-enable it by opening the app; as clunky as it sounds.
• For A11 (LineageOS-MSe1969) the app does not run even with the "workaround" applied - it just quits after receiving storage permission.

Castlevania : Symphony of the Night
