A slightly less nutshelled explanation of Lucha de Carreteras, a substory of Forza Horizon 5. Spoiler alert.
The local "friend" & potential cartel boss introduces the player to El Campeon in order to secure his blessing for the Horizon Festival. Then, the player races against time while staying above 130mph.
The player proves their worthiness of Lucha de Carreteras to El Campeon in 3 stages.
After beating El Campeon, the player receives the title of Toro Loco (which will only matter in the storyline of course)
The player is instructed to show off some stunts in a jungle, as part of their debut as Toro Loco.
Toro Loco faces off against a random opponent. Within the 1st corner, the player is immediately hinted on an accessible & blatant shortcut.
El Forzudo, El Campeon's nemesis, has called out Toro Loco for a race (because what is a better way to show off that you're a big deal than calling out & dominating a literal noob, right?). Just like Campeon, beating Forzudo is trivial. A shortcut is also present before the finish line.
This chapter also adds in a backstory of Forzudo & Campeon, where they started out as unbeatable partners until Forzudo failed to tag Campeon in time & lost the championship, leading to Campeon leaving the team.
Toro Loco sides with El Campeon & fight El Forzudo. This is perhaps the only Lucha de Carreteras chapter where there are no shortcuts, perhaps befitting a Tecnico, who strictly follows the route.
Toro Loco sides with El Forzudo & fights El Campeon as a tecnico. However, El Forzudo also challenges the player afterwards, leading to a rudo vs rudo match... where only the player has access to a hinted shortcut behind a smashable board at the start of the route... so technically rudo vs tecnico?
The Monster Ghost reappears in a giant monster truck after being hinted at in chapter 6, before Toro Loco reaches the finish line in Guanajuato. In this chapter, El Campeon & Forzudo appears to "help" Toro Loco against Monster Ghost, to no avail (as the player's assigned shitbucket is a better race car than the admittedly undertuned monster truck). This chapter also features a hinted shortcut.
To be honest... geh. The player is constantly supplied with a shitbucket that would absolutely annihilate the entire championship (unless the opponents use some offroad-tuned supercar, which never appears here), and the supposedly rudo El Forzudo was somehow a tecnico every time you race against him. If there was anything remotely good about this substory, it fits in well with FH5's rather comical dialogues. Otherwise, it's yet another forced unlock that can be skipped.
How I would fix this substory:
